Fort Wayne - USA

Fort Wayne is more than 254 thousand town in Indiana in the USA. Fort Wayne is the second largest town in this state situated over three rivers - St.Joseph's, St.Mary's and Maumee. In the USA it is known as The town of three Rivers.
 
Fort Wayne is also referred to as town of Attractions, churches, restaurants, cars as well as town of golf courses. In the town there is a museum with the world greatest private collection of souvenirs after president Lincoln as well as a botanical garden recognized as the most beautiful in the Middle West. Children's Zoological Garden in Fort Wayne has been classified by New York Times magazine as one of five best in the country.
 
Fort Wayne is also a cradle of car industry. Until today you can admire here Old Car Museum - Auborn Cord Duesenberg Museum. Fort Wayne has a very good economic situation as well as good conditions for creating new and developing already existing companies. Only over the past 15 years 145 new companies were created here. The most famous include: Lincoln National Corporation, General Motors Truck Group Fort Wayne Assembly, General Electric Company, ITT Aerospace/Communications Division, North American Van Lines, Inc, Tokheim Corporation. Twice over the past 15 years Fort Wayne participating in the competition for the best town in the USA has been recognized as a model community obtaining prestigious prize "All America City".
 
Declaration on partner friendship between Płock and Fort Wayne was signed on 9 October 1990 in Płock. Cooperation between both cities has been developing mainly with regard to culture and school system.
 
Every year in July in Fort Wayne the Three Rivers Festival takes place for nine days. More than two hundred various kinds of cultural celebrations, events and shows gathers 1,5 million participants. For several years our town has been represented on this festival by Group of Song and Dance "Vistula". Every year Fort Wayne delegation participates in the Płock European Picnic, twice we have already had an opportunity to admire family country group Marcus & Megan Moullins Band from Fort Wayne.
 
Every year, since 2000, during holidays teachers from Fort Wayne have run in Płock English language courses of which numerous inhabitants of the town benefit. Thanks to the efforts of the Fort Wayne Association of Sister Towns, Płock high school students can also take advantage of private scholarship Chapman Scholarship Fund. In the period 2002 -2004 three pupils from Płock received yearly scholarships in Fort Wayne. Currently this program is being realized under partnership-based cooperation between schools. Declarations on cooperation were signed by the Marshal Stanisław Małachowski High School as well as Bishop Dwenger High School, II Private Primary School ZOK Professor and Canterbury School, Władysław Jagiełło High School and Canterbury High School.
 
Płock pupils participated a few times in Competition for Young Talents organized by Sister Cities International from Washington for teenagers from USA partner cities.In 2005 a great success was participation of Marika Michalska from I Private Arts High School in Płock, who became one of the winners of competition entitled"Combining global villages". The prize was even more valuable because approximately 1000 works from around the world took part in the competition and Marika was the only European distinguished in the competition.
 
In 2007 the Municipal Council of Płock granted to Mr. Stanley Podzieliński - a member of the Committee of Fort Wayne Association of Sister Cities, who is responsible for cooperation with Płock - the title of Honorary Citizen of Płock town for the work contribution into cooperation of Płock and Fort Wayne communities.
